Emmy Raver-Lampman
Emmy Raver-Lampman (born September 5, 1988 in Norfolk , Virginia ) is an American actress in musicals and television. She became internationally known for her leading role in the television series The Umbrella Academy (since 2019).
life and career
Raver-Lampman was born in Norfolk . Her father is a brain tumor survivor who, after being diagnosed in 1992, when his daughter was three years old, began writing her letters for fear that he would not see her grow up; these were in newspapers and finally in 1995 in a book called Magic and Loss , in German How I would have loved to see what becomes of you. She attended the Governor's School for the Arts in Norfolk and then Marymount Manhattan College in New York City , where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Acting in 2012. In her sophomore year she got her first professional theater role in Children of Eden , whose choreographer Christine O'Grady also worked for the Broadway revival of Hair . Raver-Lampman applied for the tour and appeared in the musical at New York's St. James Theater in 2011, for which she left school and instead took correspondence courses. This was followed by other roles in the ensemble in 2013 in Jekyll & Hyde and A Night with Janis Joplin and in 2014 as a reserve in Wicked in Los Angeles for the national tour. In 2015 she received a newly added ensemble role for the Broadway debut of Lin-Manuel Mirandas Hamilton , which she left for the musical for the television series SpongeBob SquarePants in Chicago . When a second production of Hamilton started in Chicago , she was invited back to the ensemble and subsequently received the leading role of Angelica Schuyler for the national tour . In early 2020, she played with her former Hamilton colleague Solea Pfeiffer, who had cast Angelica's sister Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton , as sisters Mary and Martha Clarke in the world premiere of the new play Gun & Powder .

In 2017, Raver-Lampman was cast as Allison Hargreeves for her first TV role in The Umbrella Academy , which has been on Netflix since 2019 . This was followed by episode roles in A Million Little Things and Jane the Virgin in 2018/2019, as well as voice actress for American Dad and Robot Chicken . In July 2020, it was announced that she will replace white actress Kristen Bell as voice actress for the multiracial lead role Molly Tillermann on the series Central Park after Bell stepped down from the role in June. Raver-Lampman's first film starring was in J. Lee's aTypical Wednesday on Prime Video in 2020 .
