Adam Godley (born July 22, 1964 in Amersham ) is a British actor . He has been nominated for the Tony Award and three times for the Laurence Olivier Award .

life and career

Godley started his acting career when he was nine years old in a BBC radio production of Hemingway's My Old Man . He got his first stage role at the age of eleven as Prince Giovanni in The White Devil at the Old Vic Theater . He also appeared in Lillian Hellman's Watch on the Rhine and Close of Play by Harold Pinter at the National Theater .

After starring in the BBC television adaptation of J. Meade Falkner's Moonfleet , Godley joined Alan Ayckbourn's theater company in Scarborough , where he was a member for three seasons. Highlights include June Moon , Cabaret and The Revengers' Comedies , both screened in the West End , and Mr A's Amazing Maze Plays , screened at the National Theater.

He spent a theatrical season as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company before playing the role of Cliff in Sam Mendes Cabaret in the Donmar Warhouse . He also played in all major productions, including The Front Page , Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick , The Pillow Man and Paul .

Adam Godley lives in Los Angeles with his significant other, author Jon Hartmere .
