David Castañeda

David Castañeda (born October 24, 1989 in Los Angeles , United States ) is a Mexican- American actor . He achieved fame especially in the role of Diego Hargreeves in the television series The Umbrella Academy .

Life

Castañeda was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in Sinaloa, Mexico . He returned to the United States at the age of fourteen, where he attended high school . Castañeda then initially studied civil engineering with the intention of taking over the family business after completing his studies . Later, however, he became increasingly interested in film direction and moved in 2007 to the California State University at Fullerton , where he the degree program film production and international business occupied. Castañeda at the same time increasingly devoted himself to acting and had his first roles. In 2015 he finished his studies.

Career

Castañeda has been in acting since he was 17; However, he only took acting more seriously when he volunteered when a director was looking for actors to appear in his film during a college seminar. Castañeda has starred in several supporting roles in a number of productions, including End of Watch , and also starred in the short film Maddoggin ' , which won the Audience Award at the NBC Universal Short Cut Film Festival . In 2013 he played the role of Jorge in the television series Switched at Birth by Freeform . In late 2016, he played the role of Hector in the film Sicario 2 , which was released in 2018. Castañeda also starred in the independent film El Chicano , a supporting role in Jean-Claude Van Dammes We Die Young, and minor roles in such films as Standing Up, Falling Down by Billy Crystal .

In 2017, Castañeda was played in his most prominent role as Diego Hargreeves / Number 2 in The Umbrella Academy , which was released on Netflix in February 2019 .
