Anton and Katharina Kippenberg Foundation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Anton-und-Katharina-Kippenberg-Stiftung was founded in 1953 by two heiresses of Anton Kippenberg , the former publisher of Insel-Verlag . Statutory prerequisite and basis for the foundation was the contract between the foundation and the two heiresses with the city of Düsseldorf of February 13, 1953, with which the largest private collection on Goethe and his time was brought into the Goethe Museum (Düsseldorf) . In conjunction with a supplementary contract between the Foundation and the Goethe Museum, the contract secured Jägerhof Castle as the location for the Goethe Museum and the financial support of the museum from the state capital.

The Goethe Museum was opened on June 30, 1956.
