The Player (developed under the title Endgame ) is an American drama series with Wesley Snipes and Philip Winchester in the lead roles. The series was ordered on May 8, 2015 and has been broadcast on NBC since September 24, 2015 . The German pay-TV transmitter RTL Crime broadcast the series a day after the US broadcast in the original language with subtitles off. Due to below-average ratings, the broadcaster decided to cut the original order from 13 episodes to nine. A German-language synchronization of the series was also shown on RTL Crime from June 28, 2016.

Alex Kane is a Las Vegas security expert whose ex-wife Ginny is killed by unknown perpetrators. On the hunt for the murderers, Kane runs into Isaiah Johnson and Cassandra King, who organize crime bets. A “player” is used against “the criminals”. King helps the "player" with almost unlimited resources, while the bettors bet on who will get the upper hand. Kane is recruited as the newest "player" for the organization.

Broadcasting and international distribution

Thanks to an output deal with Sony Pictures Television, the rights to the series in Germany are held by the RTL Group . The associated broadcaster RTL Crime began broadcasting the series in its original language with subtitles just one day after it was broadcast in the US .

Sony sold the international broadcast rights of the series in 105 different territories.
