Universal Television (abbreviated UTV ) is the Fernsehproduktionsarm the NBCUniversal Television Group and by extension from the transmitter NBC broadcast, since the majority of the series on NBC and so the majority of the main evening program on NBC from this studio comes. It was also formerly known as Revue Studios , NBC Studios , NBC Universal Television Studio, and Universal Media Studio . Both NBC Studios and Universal Network Television are precursors to Universal Media Studios.
The name was changed following the founding of NBCUniversals in 2004. In June 2007, NBC Universal Television Studios was renamed Universal Media Studios. The parent company NBCUniversal explained the reason for the renaming by saying that "the new name better describes the company's mission to be the leading content provider for television and digital platforms across all television landscapes and creative genres". From 2009 to 2011, UMS distributed syndication rights such as The Jerry Springer Show , The Steve Wilkos Show and Access Hollywood .
On September 12, 2011, UMS was renamed Universal Television again.

Revue Studios
Revue Studios, initially known as Revue Productions, were founded in 1943 by MCA Inc. to produce radio shows. NBC and Revue's partnership dates back to September 1950 when Armor Theater , based on the radio show Stars Over Hollywood , began airing . The company was finally renamed Revue Studios in 1958 after MCA acquired part of Universal Studios . Four years later, after acquiring Decca Records , the company was renamed Universal Television.
During the early days of television, Revue was responsible for the production and distribution of many television classics. The most noteworthy series of these is Growing Up , which was first broadcast for a season on CBS before being shown on ABC from 1958 to 1963 . Revue also produced Alan Hale, Jr.'s Biff Baker, USA (1952–1953), all of Rod Cameron's syndication series, City Detective (1953–1955), State Trooper (1956–1959) and Coronado 9 (1960–1991), and Bill Williams ' western series The Adventures of Kit Carson (1951–1955). It also produced the crime series Johnny Midnight , in which Edmond O'Brien stars as a New York private investigator . Another of his productions was the 52 episode series Crusader starring Brian Keith , which was broadcast on CBS from 1955 to 1956.
Revue also produced the later seasons of The Jack Benny Program for CBS and NBC . In coproduction with Jack Benny's production studio J and M Productions , Checkmate , General Electric Theater and Alfred Hitchcock Presents for CBS, Studio 57 for DuMont , Wells Fargo , The Restless Gun and At the Foot of the Blue Mountains for NBC, and Wagon Train for NBC and ABC . In addition, the first two seasons of the long-lived western series The People of Shiloh Ranch were produced.
NBC Studios
NBC Productions was an American television production and television distribution company founded by the RCA in 1947 . In 1996 it was renamed NBC Studios. In 2004, NBC Studios finally merged with Universal Network Television to form NBC Universal Television Studios.
Studios USA
When Barry Diller bought the production company Universal Television and the USA Network from Seagrams Universal Studios in 1998 , he founded the American television production and television distribution company Studios USA. In addition to the former Universal Studio productions, the studio mainly sold and produced talk shows .

Universal Cable Productions
This sub-department produces series for national and international sales. Production is primarily carried out for the cable stations USA Network and Syfy , which are part of the media group . Since the mid-2010s, Universal Cable Productions has benefited from subsidiary broadcasters who want to expand their fictional television series, such as E! Entertainment Television and Bravo . Universal Cable Productions also develops digital content for platforms such as YouTube Red , Hulu and Seeso .
