Oberpostdirektion Cologne

The Oberpostdirektion Cologne was established on January 1st, 1850 . It was the central authority of the postal administration and responsible for the administrative districts of Cologne (1850–1993) and Aachen (1871–1876 and 1943–1972).

In the course of the privatization of the Bundespost , the Cologne directorate of the Deutsche Bundespost Postdienst existed from 1993 to 1995 and the Cologne directorate of Deutsche Post AG from 1995 to 1997 .

Certainly the most important building in the OPD district is the Cologne telecommunications tower, which was completed in 1981 and is also called Colonius .
