Nick Knight - The Vampircop ( Forever Knight ) is a Canadian television series that first aired from 1992 to 1996 in the US.

It is based on the American television film titled Midnight Cop ( Nick Knight ) (1989) and is the story of the 800-year-old vampire head Nick Knight, who is as good as invulnerable - only fire can kill him. Nevertheless, he dreams of being mortal again in order to be able to live normally. As a policeman, he and his partner Schanke solve strange and puzzling deaths. He wants to calm his conscience and atone for his murders and crimes.

characters

Nicolas "Nick" Knight was born in France over 800 years ago as Nicolas de Chavallier . Out of love for Janette du Charme, he became a vampire in the 13th century . Both champions are Lucien LaCroix, whose rival Nick Knight will become.
To make his debt to humanity amends Knight begins in Canadian Toronto to homicide after he awakens again as "bomb victim" in the morgue and there kennen- the police doctor Natalie Lambert and love learning.
Nick Knight wants to regain his mortality and so he tries, with the help of Lambert, to achieve this through various means, but also with magic and superstition. Due to an alleged “ sun allergy ”, Knight can be put on the night shift and one evening he meets Donald “Don” Schanke, who becomes his partner.
Nick Knight falls into a deep hole when his partner Schanke is killed in a plane crash. His new partner becomes Detective Tracy Vetter, who - unlike the other colleagues - knows about Knight's true nature: During her work, she met the Spanish vampire Vachon , who she knows is known to her partner.
When someone arrested, Tracy Vetter is shot and dies a little later in hospital. Nick Knight blames himself for this misfortune and wants to leave town with LaCroix when Natalie Lambert asks him to turn her into a vampire; she confesses her love to him and Nick Knight also has to admit that he has fallen in love with the doctor. But while trying to get Natalie to the other side, Nick Knight accidentally kills her in his apartment; he finally asks the approaching Lucien LaCroix that he kill him too. The latter reluctantly complies with his wish and stakes his former student.

Detective Donald "Don" Schanke is Nick Knight's partner. He is married to Myra and has a daughter, Jenny, with her. Schanke is an absolute TV freak whose favorite series is Bechanting Jeannie ( I Dream of Jeannie ), and - to the chagrin of his partner - he loves souvlaki with lots of garlic.
At first he and Knight are reluctant to work together. But little by little, a real friendship develops between them. However, Don Schanke will never find out that his partner is a vampire. But one day he was about to expose it when Knight saves his life in a shootout. But LaCroix steers Schanke's thoughts back on the right track during a conversation about Nick Knight.
When Don Schanke is killed in an alleged plane crash, however, it quickly turns out to be a terrorist attack.

Dr. Natalie Lambert is a coroner and the only person (besides Tracy Vetter) who knows Nick Knight's true nature. The doctor is endangered several times, from which she must be rescued by Knight. For example, she gets involved with a vampire without realizing it.
Natalie Lambert supports Nick Knight in his desire to regain his mortality and falls in love with the vampire.
When her best friend commits suicide, she demands that Nick Knight turn her into a vampire. But when he tries to get her to the other side, Natalie Lambert dies because Nick Knight couldn't control his thirst for blood.

Lucien LaCroix is a 1917-year-old vampire who was brought to the other side by his then 12-year-old daughter Dalia during the sinking of Pompeii . The former general of the Romans turned Janette du Charme and Nicolas de Chavallier into vampires in the 11th and 13th centuries. While LaCroix and Janette were enjoying their carefree life as vampires, Nicolas had retained a bit of humanity. After their breakup, LaCroix rises to eternal rival Nick Knights in Toronto, and he tries to pull him back to the supposedly right side, the bad guys. LaCroix finally hosted a nightly talk show under the name “NightCrawler” when Janette du Charme gave him the name of her bar “The Raven”. She has to leave the city, she explains. One evening, Dalia, LaCroix's daughter, appears in town and single-mindedly begins to murder LaCroix children, that is, the town's vampires. She wants to take revenge on her father, because he once killed her in Egypt and left her alone. But her spirit had survived in a sarcophagus and materialized when grave robbers open it. Together with Nick Knight, he manages to finally destroy his daughter. A little later Nick Knight admits that he sees him as his best and closest friend and asks him to kill him after his attempt to make Natalie Lambert a vampire failed and she died.

Janette du Charme is the reason Nick Knight became a vampire in the 13th century. She herself has been on the other side since 1028 and is in many ways similar to her master LaCroix. But in contrast to this, she is not really bad, just has no qualms about taking advantage of the advantages of being a vampire.
Janette introduces Knight to LaCroix. When she opened The Raven vampire club, Nick and LaCroix were regular guests. Don Schanke, Nick's partner, is also in the bar a few times, not knowing that it is more than dangerous for him there. But Janette has a certain weakness for Schanke and helps him out of trouble several times.
Janette du Charme ends up transferring “The Raven” to LaCroix because she has to leave town: she fell in love with a mortal who is eventually murdered by the Mafia . But through her love for humans, Janette finally regains mortality and is shortly afterwards also murdered by the mafia.

Detective Tracy Vetter is the police chief's daughter and Nick Knight's new partner. Originally only planned as Don Schanke's vacation replacement, she becomes the vampire's steady partner after his death.
During their investigation into the plane crash in which Don Schanke was killed, it quickly turns out that it was an assassination attempt. She meets the vampire Vachon and falls in love with him. Besides Natalie Lambert, Tracy is the only person around Nick Knight who knows who and what he is. While trying to arrest a deranged criminal in the basement of the presidium with Knight, Tracy Vetter is shot and dies a little later.
