Eriq La Salle
Eriq Ki La Salle (born July 23, 1962 in Hartford , Connecticut ) is an American actor , director , producer , screenwriter and writer .
Life
Eriq La Salle grew up with three siblings. He studied at the Juilliard School for two years before studying acting at New York University in 1984 . He then had roles in low budget films and in the theater. In 1985 he played the reporter Mike Rivers in the US drama series One Life to Live .
He was best known for his supporting role in the comedy The Prince of Zamunda with Eddie Murphy from 1988. In 1991, he moved to Los Angeles , California, where he had guest roles in television films and series, including LA Law - Star Lawyers, Tricks, Litigation and Back to the past ( Quantum Leap ). In 1994 he played in the pilot for the drama series Emergency Room, the role of surgeon Dr. Peter Benton . The concept was convincing so that a long-standing successful television series was developed from it. Until the 8th season (2001/02) La Salle was one of the main actors in the series. At the end of the series (2009) he returned for a few guest appearances.
In addition to acting, La Salle has also worked as a director since 1996, for example on the television series Twilight Zone for the episode Memphis (2003), for which he also wrote the screenplay. He made his feature-length directorial debut in 1996 with the television film Rebound: The Legend of Earl 'The Goat' Manigault . Shortly before, he directed the short film Psalms from the Underground . In 2002 he shot another fictional film with Crazy as Hell , produced it and also took on the leading role. Since then he has worked as a director on various television series.
In 2002 he was involved as a producer on the film The Salton Sea .
In 2012 Eriq LaSalle published his first book Laws of Depravity . Law of Wrath followed in 2014 .
From 1994 to 1999 he was with his former fiancée, management consultant Angela Johnson. The relationship finally ended a year later with a legal battle over a vacation home that LaSalle had funded but went under Angela Johnson's name.
In his spare time, La Salle does fitness training and plays pool billiards.
