action

Harry is an aging 63-year-old music producer who has lived his previous life as a womanizer without any long-term ties . His new conquest is the young Marin, who drives him to her mother's beach house, where the two want to spend their first weekend together. Contrary to expectations, however, they are surprised there by Marin's mother Erica, a playwright, and her sister Zoe.

After the initial shock, Erica, who Harry initially considers a burglar , shows her liberal side: she, her daughter and her lover, who is more than twice her age, decide to spend the weekend together in the beach house.

On the first evening together, Harry suffers a heart attack and has to be taken to the hospital emergency room . There the women meet the young doctor Julian Mercer, who at first sight is fascinated by Erica, whose plays he knows. Harry refuses to stay in the hospital, but he is also unable to travel. Before Erica knows what is happening to her, her daughter Harry quarters in her beach house, where he is supposed to relax for a few days under the care of her mother. After a few days, Harry breaks up with Marin.

Julian uses a patient visit to meet Erica. But Harry also forges the first tender bonds with the playwright. A real love affair seems to develop from the temporary coexistence of the two. But no sooner has Harry recovered than Erica sees him with a much younger woman in a restaurant. Erica is hurt. She separates from Harry, who does not want to be tied to her, and processes her feelings in a romantic comedy that she writes for the theater. Julian also comes back into her life.

Six months later they meet in Paris : Julian and Erica celebrate Erica's birthday in a restaurant. Harry arrives and is asked to stay. In the course of the evening together, it becomes clear that there is still more between him and Erica than a friendly bond. Julian also recognizes this, who gives the two of them time to be clear about their feelings. Harry finally confesses his love to Erica.

Reviews

"Initially a precisely staged comedy full of linguistic humor and with a captivating main actor, but which soon loses its narrative rhythm and uses increasingly crude means."
