With a Song in My Heart (Original title: With a Song in My Heart ) an American is music film of 1952, the life of the actress and singer Jane Froman shows. Froman was on 22 February 1943 an emergency landing of a Boeing 314 to cripple become. The direction was directed by Walter Lang based on a script by Lamar Trotti , who also took over the production. The main role is played by Susan Hayward , who gave Froman her voice for the singing numbers. Jane Froman is an ordinary studio singer on a radio station in Cincinnati . After a while, however, she became a radio celebrity. Jane is overjoyed to marry her agent Don Ross, but they both soon discover that they are not really in love with each other. While on tour with the United Service Organizations during the Second World War to entertain the troops, Jane is the victim of a plane crash that damages her permanently. With a lot of courage to live, she manages to get back on stage and begins a relationship with the pilot John Burn, who had saved her.

Soundtrack

The album originally comprised eight songs and a shorter version of the American Medley, sung by Jane Froman and with a short orchestral introduction by George Greeley , who conducted the orchestra and choir. The soundtrack was released by Capitol Records on a variety of media: Capitol L-309 (LP), DDN-309 (78rpm box with four tracks); KDF-309 (45rpm box with four pieces) and FBF-309 (2 EP). The album was the best-selling album in 1952 and stayed at the top of the Billboard charts for 25 weeks . Capital Records also released a single with the title track.

Although the film received an Oscar for best original score, a number of US music standards are included on the soundtrack. All but three were sung by Jane Froman , who lent Susan Hayward her voice.
