Dave Barbour

David "Dave" Michael Barbour (* 28. May 1912 in New York ; † 11. December 1965 in Malibu , California ) was an American jazz guitarist of Swing .

Barbour first played banjo , then guitar, among others with Adrian Rollini (1933), Wingy Manone (1934), Red Norvo (1935–36), Artie Shaw (1939), Benny Goodman (1942), Charlie Barnet (1945) and Woody Herman (1949), with whom he toured Cuba . Together with Peggy Lee , whom he met in Goodman's orchestra and with whom he was married from 1943 to 1952, he wrote a number of songs, including Mañana and It's A Good Day . Barbour took plates under his own name, with Benny Carter , Bunny Berigan , Red McKenzie , Louis Armstrong , Mildred Bailey , Lil Armstrong , Jack Teagarden , Charlie Barnet, André Previn , Teddy Wilson , Helen Humes / Lester Young , June Christy and Charlie Ventura on .
