Gerhard Glawischnig
Gerhard Glawischnig (* December 7, 1906 in Kreuth ob Rattendorf, today part of the Hermagor-Pressegger See community ; † December 28, 1995 in St. Veit an der Glan ) was a Protestant pastor and Carinthian dialect poet.
Life
Gerhard Glawischnig was born in a predominantly Protestant region of Carinthia, first became a Protestant pastor in St. Veit an der Glan and from 1956 to 1968 pastor in Villach and at the same time superintendent of the superintendent of Carinthia and East Tyrol .
Mainly together with Justinus Mulle , but also with Günther Mittergradnegger and Walter Kraxner, he created numerous Carinthian dialect songs ( Kärntnerlieder ), the so-called New Carinthian song , whereby the Glantaler dialect he used became a kind of Carinthian Koine and also the dialect and song poetry strongly influenced in other Carinthian regions.
Gerhard Glawischnig died in 1995 and was buried in the city cemetery of St. Veit an der Glan .
