history
After the time of secret Protestantism in Carinthia, the tolerance patent of 1781 led to the establishment of tolerance communities , which are the oldest parishes in the area of today's superintendent. This came into being in 1945 when it was separated from the Evangelical Superintendent of Vienna . There were plans to do so since 1942.
Fritz Zerbst became the first superintendent of Carinthia and East Tyrol in 1947 after the establishment of the diocese was recognized by the state cultural office. Zerbst was later professor of practical theology at the University of Vienna . His successor as superintendent was Gerhard Glawischnig in 1956 , who also worked as a Carinthian dialect poet. The later Lutheran Bishop Herwig Sturm was Superintendent of Carinthia and East Tyrol from 1988 to 1996. Manfred Sauer is the sixth superintendent of Carinthia and East Tyrol. He has held this office since 2002.
