The Evangelical Church is located in the center of Feld am See in Carinthia .

history

After the tolerance patent of 1781, the majority of the population in the area around Feld am See professed Protestantism . In 1783, Matthäus Cnopf was appointed the first pastor of the congregation. In 1787 the wooden tolerance prayer house was replaced by a stone one.

After the January patent from 1849 allowed the evangelical communities to build church towers, they started immediately in Feld am See. However, the first tower collapsed before completion. So the church received its tower only in 1852.

Building

The three-bay nave is a spacious building with a slightly retracted round apse . A three-storey vestibule tower with round arched sound openings and a pointed gable helmet is presented to him in the west. In the north, a sacristy is attached to the nave .

On the flat ceiling of the nave there is a simple stucco medallion from 1787 in honor of Emperor Joseph II and a ceiling painting from the beginning of the 20th century, showing Christ as a child friend.

The two-storey, three-axis west gallery swings far into the nave. The organ on it dates from 1821. Above the sacristy there is an oratory with a vaulted balustrade .

A floor mosaic in front of the entrance to the church shows a Luther rose .

Facility

The altar and the pulpit were made in 1648 by G. Seitinger for the Virgilienberg Church in Friesach . After the church was profaned in 1786, the objects were purchased by the pastorate for Feld am See in 1794. The central picture of the altar with columns and cartilage, however, dates from the 17th century and was donated to the church in 1974. It shows the crucifixion of Christ . The top picture shows the resurrection and the predella shows the Last Supper .
