The Evangelical Superintendentur AB Böhmen was a diocese of the Evangelical Church AB in Austria , which existed from 1784 to 1900.
organization
The superintendent included up to 28 parishes in Bohemia , but without the Ascher Ländchen , whose congregations were merged in the Evangelical Superintendent AB Asch . The office of the superintendent was not fixed. The Bohemian superintendent was initially divided into three seniorates : the Prague seniorate , the northern seniorate and the southern seniorate . Later there was a dichotomy according to national criteria, with a Czech-speaking Eastern Seniorat and a German-speaking Western Seniorat .
history
The Evangelical Superintendentur AB Bohemia was set up like the Evangelical Superintendentur AB Moravia and Silesia in 1784 under Emperor Joseph II .
The superintendents of Bohemia were (term of office in brackets):
- Jan Láho (1784–1785)
- Jan Barott (1785)
- Štěpán Leška (1786–1798)
- Johann Christoph Friedrich Götschel (1798–1799)
- Karl Franz Hoenicka (1800–1807)
- Michael Gottlieb Seihm (1807-1828)
- Josef Krejčí (1829–1844)
- Heřman Kryštůfek (1845–1863)
- Jakub Beneš (1863–1873)
- Daniel Bohumil Molnár (1873-1889)
- Adam Ithamar Marian Koch (1890-1900)
Against the background of the nationality conflict, the differences between German and Czech Lutherans intensified in the 19th century. In 1900 the Evangelical Superintendenty AB Böhmen was divided into two parts, whereby the Czech-speaking Eastern Seniorat was raised to the Evangelical Superintendentary AB Ostböhmen and the German-speaking Western Seniorat to the Evangelical Superintendentar AB Westböhmen .
