geography

Opatovice I is located in the basin of the Opatovický creek in the foothills of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . The forest area of Opatovický les lies southwest of the village. Above the village, the stream feeds four ponds.

Neighboring towns are Březová in the north, Korotice in the northeast, Lomeček and Lány in the east, Vilémovice in the southeast, Červené Janovice in the south, Černíny in the southwest, Zavadilka and Předbořice in the west and Bahynko and Bahno in the northwest.

history

Opatovice was first mentioned in 1344. The owner of the place became around 1350 the rich Kuttenberg citizen Jan Glencl, who bought from the monastery Sedlec , which was situated apart from the other monastic property . Glencl later bequeathed his goods to the hospital in Kuttenberg. In 1379 the council of Kuttenberg sold the Opatovice farm to the citizen Václav Bartoš. In the 15th century the Dobřenský z Dobřenic became owners and then the Janovský ze Soutic. During this time the village probably came under the Janovičky rule . From 1440 to 1461 Aleš za Soutic owned Opatovice, after which the place came to the sidelines of Janovský ze Suchotlesk, which had their seat in the now extinct village Suchotlesky near Zbýšov . At the beginning of the 16th century the brothers Hynko and Wenzel von Haugwitz bought the goods on Biskupitz. Hynko von Haugwitz sold Janovičky including the associated Opatovice in 1524 to Dietrich Lukavecký von Lukavec. Ten years later, Jindřich Firšic z Nabdína and after him Jan Pařízek von Pařízek acquired the rule. In 1541 Adam von Říčany bought the Janovičky manor, which included Janovičky, Zdeslavice, Zhoř, Chvalov, Bludov and Opatovice. Its property was confiscated in 1547 for participating in the uprising against the Habsburgs and Opatovice fell to the Bohemian Crown. From 1561 further changes of ownership followed and in 1575 Albrecht von Kolowrat- Novohradský acquired the place. Until 1616 Opatovice belonged to different lines of the Kolowrat dynasty, after which the village was detached from Janovičky and sold to Beneš Březský from Ploskovice on Bohdaneč .

After the Thirty Years' War Opatovice became an independent estate, owned by Philipp Mulzer von Rosenthal. He was followed by his son Karl Mulzer von Rosenthal. After his death the estate fell to Wilhelm Leopold Záruba von Hustiřan in 1684. From 1735 Opatovice belonged to the Jesuits in Kuttenberg. After the dissolution of the order, Opatovice came to the study fund in 1773, from which Jan František Svoboda bought it in 1824.

After the patrimonial rule was replaced, Opatovice became an independent municipality in the Kuttenberg district in 1850. In 1865 Johanka Svobodová sold the goods to Christian von Schaffer. His son of the same name sold the manorial forest to the town of Kutná Hora , which managed it together with their estates in Červené Janovice. Since 1921 the village bears the name Opatovice I to distinguish it from a place of the same name belonging to the same district ( Opatovice II ). In 1948 the forests of the town of Kutná Hora were nationalized. In the course of the municipal reform of 1961, Opatovice I was incorporated into Červené Janovice. In 1989 the forests and ponds were returned to the town of Kutná Hora. Since November 24th, 1990 Opatovice I forms a municipality again.
