Bohdaneč (German Bochdanetsch , Bohdantz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers northeast of Zruč nad Sázavou and belongs to the Okres Kutná Hora .

geography

Bohdaneč is located in the valley basin of the Ostrovský creek, also called Pilský potok, in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands , surrounded by larger forest areas . On the eastern periphery, the brook is dammed in Bohdanečský rybník and Karbanův rybník. The Kaňkov (493 m) rises to the west. There are two larger quarries near Bohdaneč.

Neighboring towns are Prostřední Ves, Šlechtín and Řeplice in the north, Víckovice in the northeast, Michalovice, Sáhy and Třebětín in the east, Kotoučov and Tasice in the southeast, Bělá , Nová Louka and Dvorecko in the south, Ostrov in the southwest, Jaměšenov in the west and Únéice and Hranice in the west Northwest.

history

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1233 when Bohdaneč, Dobrá, Humpolec , Pustina and Skrýšov were sold by the Grand Master of the Cross with the Red Star , Hermann Balka, to the Želiv monastery . In the middle of the 14th century nobles bought the village and surrounding areas from the monastery and established a Vladikensitz in Bohdaneč . Vavřinec and Milota von Bohdaneč sealed in 1415 on an appeal against the burning of Jan Hus in Constance .

In 1514 Vladislav II raised the Hermann Bohdanečský village of Zelená Bohdaneč to a minority . It is believed that there was a parish school in Zelená Bohdaneč at that time. At the beginning of the 19th century, after the introduction of compulsory schooling, 100 children, who also came from the surrounding villages, attended the Bohdaneč school.

After the abolition of patrimonial Bohdaneč in 1850 with the districts Dvorecko and Kotoučov became an independent municipality in the Ledeč district . In 1929 Kotoučov formed its own municipality with Dvorecko.

During the Second World War, the partisan group "Zarevo" operated from Dvorecko. In 1946 the school was connected as a branch to the citizens' school in Zbraslavice. Due to the decline in student numbers, it was converted into a nine-grade primary school in the 1970s. From 1978 only the first to fourth graders were taught in Bohdaneč and two years later the school was closed completely. In 1961 Kotoučov (with Dvorecko), Řeplice and Prostřední Ves (with Šlechtín) were incorporated and the community came to Okres Kutná Hora .

Quarries

Amphibolite is extracted in a quarry east of the village . The break is in his teuferen dismantling a quarry lake flooded . The operator has been today's Silnice Čáslav-Holding as since 1971

Another large quarry is located south of Bohdaneč in the Nová Louka district. A dolomitic marble is extracted from it, the lightest parts of which appear almost pure white on the fracture surface. Mouse-gray areas and less often green deposits occur to a lesser extent. The marble is medium-grained and difficult to polish due to its dolomite content. The proportion of calcium carbonate is around 62% and that of magnesium carbonate around 36%. According to its age, the deposit lies in the Moldanubian .

It is of great importance for marble application in Bohemia and the Czech Republic. The Nová Louka quarry is developing one of the few deposits that was able to meet the demand for bright white crystalline marble in the country when imports were not possible or desired. In addition to the use of extraction waste for chippings and fine-grained aggregates (pigments, plasters), its use as stone is mainly in the areas of paving , slabs and steps as well as tombs .

The marble found extensive use as a paving stone. In central Bohemia it had been customary since at least the 19th century to pave the footpaths in many cities with hand-cut marble paving. Mainly three types of Bohemian natural stones came into question. These were Bohdaneč (white marble ), Kosoř (black limestone ) and Slivenec (red-brown limestone). The special character of this footpath design in the central Bohemian cities was that each place had its dominant laying pattern, but was always only designed with these three types of stone. The high level of craftsmanship of the pavement producers and the old stone setters can be seen in the laying pattern of such marble pavements and may be unique for Central Europe in the still existing overall extent. From the point of view of cultural geological research, such paved surfaces are of inestimable value. In individual Czech cities, these artistic pavements are threatened with total destruction due to civil engineering work. Around 1900 the quarry was owned by the Johann Trpišowský quarry company. At that time, the focus was on mining in lime production and, because of its weather resistance, on paving (mosaic paving, i.e. the smallest format). There is evidence of plaster deliveries to Kuttenberg , Pardubitz , Teplitz and Prague (for Wenceslas Square ). The quarry is now operated by UNIKOM as, and since 1977 by its predecessor companies.

Community structure
