Brambory (German Brambor ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers northeast of the town of Čáslav at the foot of the Iron Mountains and belongs to the Okres Kutná Hora .

geography

The street village is located at the western foot of the Iron Mountains ( Železné hory ) in the Čáslavská kotlina ( Czaslau basin ). The Čertovka brook flows south of Brambory and the Koukalecký rybník pond to the south-east of the village.

Neighboring towns are Zdechovice and Morašice in the north, Krasnice in the north-east, Litošice and Sovolusky in the east, Koukalka, Semtěš and Bílé Podolí in the south-east, Zaříčany in the south, Bojmany and Žehušice in the south-west, Svobodná Ves in the west and Ovčíjny, in the north-west.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1393 as Brandenburg . In 1412 the place was referred to as Bramburk and in 1437 as Bramburky . The name is not derived from a castle, as there are no remains of such a castle anywhere in the area, but indicates settlers from Brandenburg . In the 18th century, today's spelling was used, which has nothing to do with potatoes, which are also called Brambory in Czech.

In the woods north of the village the forester's lodge Wedralka ( Védralka ) was built around 1800 , which belonged to the Žehušice domain and was expanded into a Franziska hunting pavilion, around which the Franziskahain park with game reserve was laid out. Furthermore, the settlement of Koukalka was located on Koukalecký rybník. In 1786 hand weaving found its way into the manufactory in Weißpodol , Brambory and Koukalka. Another source of income was agriculture, in which potato cultivation actually played a major role.

In 1840 the subordinate village of Brambor or Brambory , which was subordinate to Žehušice, consisted of 18 houses in which 111 people lived. Aside, on the ridge, in the former zoo Franziskahain was the stately hunter's lodge Wedralka. The parish was Zbyslav .

After the abolition of patrimonial Brambory formed from 1849 a district of the market Weißpodol in the judicial district of Časlau . Koukalka, which also belonged to White Podol, was destroyed by a large fire in 1850. From 1868 Brambory belonged to the Časlau district .

In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 the Okres Čáslav was repealed; Brambory was assigned to the Okres Kutná Hora. Since November 24, 1990, Brambory has had its own parish.
