history

The first written mention of Rohozec was in 1143 in a certificate of endowment for the newly founded Cistercian monastery Sedletz . In 1248 the village consisted of 20 houses. The Sedletz Cistercians sold Rohozec to Anna von Rosenberg in 1407 , and in 1420 King Sigismund assigned the village to the Sedletz monastery again. In the middle of the 16th century the Cistercians sold Rohozec to the rule of Žehušice . Emperor Ferdinand I deprived Václav Žehušický von Nestajov because of his participation in the uprising of 1546 the fief and sold the rule to Karl von Zierotin . In 1661 Michael Oswald von Thun and Hohenstein acquired the Žehušice rule from the heirs of Burian Ladislaw von Waldstein . In 1671 he made the rule Žehušice a majorate and bequeathed it to his brother Maximilian.

In 1840, Rohosetz , also called Rohusitz or Rohosice , consisted of 67 houses in which 403 people lived. There was a branch church of St. Magdalena, the parish was Chotusitz . To the northeast of the village, the Černá strouha was dammed in the Studenetz pond ( Mikulášský rybník ).

After the abolition of patrimonial Rohozec formed from 1849 a municipality in the judicial district of Časlau . From 1868 the municipality belonged to the Časlau district . In 1887 the volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1910 Rohozec got its own school, in 1913 the village was connected to the electricity network. The population rose to over 500 in the interwar period. In 1929 the village received a sewer system and the wetlands around the place were meliorated. In 1930 the Brslenka was regulated.

In the course of the territorial reform of 1960, the Okres Čáslav was repealed; Rohozec was assigned to the Okres Kutná Hora and incorporated into Svatý Mikuláš . The school in Rohozec was closed in 1962 and the children were retrained to Žehušice. Since the beginning of 1993 Rohozec has again formed its own community. Rohozec has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2016.
