history

Archaeological finds on the hill Ve vlčích jamách or Na stezkách to the west of the village prove an early settlement of the village. In addition to burnt stones and glass slag, a 22 cm high bulbous metal container, an iron arrowhead 25 cm long and 11 cm long bronze needles were found there, which can be assigned to the Roman era at the beginning of our era. Further ceramic finds from the time of the Slavic castle hill culture date from the 5th and 6th centuries.

The first written mention of the village was made in 1353 as part of the Žleby rule . Later Zaříčany was attached to Zbyslav. At the end of the 17th century Maximilian von Thun and Hohenstein acquired the Zbyslav estate with the villages of Lovčice , Starkoč and Zaříčany and added it to his Fideikommiss rule Žehušice .

In 1840 Zařitschan or Zařičany consisted of 58 houses in which 409 people lived. In the village there was a manorial farm, which was temporarily leased, and a peeling station. A hunter's house ( pheasant keep ) was located to the north of the village . Parish was Zbislau .

After the abolition of patrimonial Zářičany formed a municipality in the judicial district of Časlau . From 1868 the place belonged to the Časlau district . At the end of the 19th century, Zařičany was used as a place name. By order of the Linguistic Commission in Prague , the place name was changed to Zaříčany in 1920 .

In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 the Okres Čáslav was repealed; Zaříčany was assigned to the Okres Kutná Hora and incorporated in 1961 to Bílé Podolí. On March 3, 1991 the place had 151 inhabitants; in the 2001 census, 118 people lived in the 72 houses in Zaříčany.
