Bělá (German Biela ) is a municipality in the Okres Havlíčkův Brod . The place name developed from Byela meaning the color white, possibly because of the light color of the stream in the place.

The district of Tasice ( Tassitz ) is located about 1.5 km northeast of Bělá and is inhabited by about 50 people.

history

Bělá

Bělá was first attested in writing in 1257, Tasice not until 1843.

A castle in Bělá was first mentioned in writing in 1455, the Lords of Bela were first mentioned in 1316. August Sedláček still describes the castle's walls, moats and a rectangular tower. In 1881 these were torn down and backfilled. Only in house no.10 there are remains of walls with loopholes and a cellar.

The place was separated from Jedlá ( Jedlau ) in 1992 and made an independent municipality.

Community structure

Bělá consists of the districts Bělá and Tasice. The municipality includes the cadastral district of Bělá u Jedlé.

Attractions

The Jakobshütte in Tasice (Czech Huť Jakub v Tasicích ) is a glassworks that was produced from 1796 to 1996 and is now run as a museum. It is designated as a national cultural monument .
