history
A medieval silver mining area with several settlements was located in the area of today's municipality. Mining began in the second half of the 13th century, although it was interrupted in the 15th century by the Hussite Wars and the devastation of the area. In the 16th century, a hut was operated on the left side of Borovský potok below the Neuhof and another 400 pounds of silver was delivered from the pits to the mint in Kuttenberg . During this time, Zacharias von Neuhaus had a silver chair weighing 43 kg made. In the course of the 17th century, all the mines were destroyed by the Thirty Years' War.
After the end of the war, plans began to revive the mining industry. According to the request of Chief Captain Friedrich Smilkovský von Talmberg , Ferdinand Joseph von Dietrichstein began planning the construction of a new hut on the site of the desert hut from 1666. The building plans, which were finally rejected in 1774, were drafted by the Tyrolean governor. In the 19th century, silver mining revived near Böhmisch Schützendorf under Johann Höniger (1804-1892).
Merlnberg / Hory Herlivinovy
On the spur to the left of the confluence of the Borovský potok into the Sázava was the mountain town of Herliwinberg , founded by Smil von Lichtenburg (Latin Mons Herlivini , Czech Hory Herlivinovy ) with the Church of St. Catherine, which has also been documented since June 9, 1265. In 1327 the place was called Mermlnperk . The last news about Merlnberg comes from the year 1350. Subsequently, the settlement was probably slowly abandoned and destroyed in 1422 by Jan Žižka on his move towards Primislau .
Only the church of Merlnberg remained.
Böhmisch Schützendorf / Český Šicndorf
Opposite Merlnberg, on the right side of Borovský potok, the village of Villa Sagittarii ( Střelcova ves in Czech ) can be traced back to 1265 . From 1351 this place was called Schützendorf . In 1463 Schützendorf consisted of a fortress, a manor and the village. From 1787 the village was called the Bohemian Schützendorf to distinguish it from the other nearby Schützendorf and that as the German Schützendorf .
Silberberg / Stříbrné Hory
In 1654 the market Hory Stržibrny was founded immediately below Schützendorf on the right slope of Borovský potok , which was called Silberberg from 1787 and from 1854 also Stříbrné Hory .
Formation of a church
After the replacement of patrimonial, the municipalities of Silberberg and Böhmisch Schützendorf were established in 1850, and in the first half of the 20th century they were merged into one municipality of Böhmisch Schützendorf.
In 1946 the district of Stříbrné Hory was renamed Stříbro and merged with the municipality of Český Šicndorf into one unit. In 1947, the municipality of Český Šicndorf was given the new name Stříbrné Hory and the associated settlement of the same name Český Šicndorf was renamed Střelcová . In 1949, the names Stříbrné Hory and Střelcová were declared for the merged districts for extinct.
