Žižkovo Pole is located southwest of the Saar Mountains on a plateau in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands surrounded by Borovský potok, Modlíkovský potok and Doberský potok . The monument Žižkova mohyla is located south of the village.

history

Schönfeld was established at the end of the 13th century as a settlement for miners who dug for ores in the Macourovský potok valley and in Niederdorf. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1303. In the time before the Hussite Wars , Schönfeld was an important place and had a parish church since its foundation. During the siege of Primislau by the Hussites on October 11, 1424, their general Jan Žižka died of the plague in the camp south of Schönfeld .

In 1502, Hynko Brožek received the village from Kunstadt by repatriation . In 1596 Hertwig Zedlitz von Schönfeld became the owner of the place. After the Battle of the White Mountain , the Zedlitz property was confiscated and sold to Cardinal Franz Xaver von Dietrichstein . During the Thirty Years War the place became deserted. Mining had already ceased and the residents of Schönfeld lived from agriculture.

In 1874, the Žižka grave memorial was built against the resistance of the Austro-Hungarian authorities. A flax roasting plant was established in 1911 and a cooperative distillery was established in 1913 , which mainly processed potatoes. In 1921 the municipality of Šenfeld was renamed Žižkovo Pole.

In 1952 the flax factory was shut down and in 1967 the schnapps distillery also ceased operations. In 1964 Macourov was incorporated.
