history

The first mention of Lipnice in 1226 concerns the place Dolní Město . Horní Lipnice, located at the foot of the Lipnice Castle , was not built until the beginning of the 14th century in connection with the construction of the castle. In 1370 the settlement was raised to the status of a town by Emperor Charles IV and was granted brewing rights. During the Thirty Years War , on November 16, 1639, the city walls and two thirds of the houses were razed to the ground by Swedish conquerors. From the 17th century, the city developed again. In the 19th century, the lack of infrastructure led to stagnation. The fire in 1869 destroyed a large part of the mining and glassworks town.

During vacation time and on weekends, the population increases considerably due to the owners of numerous dachas. 130 companies are registered in the village. Most of the population lives from agriculture and employment in the surrounding cities.
