history
Belonging to Hungary and the relative freedom of religion associated with it enabled the establishment of evangelical articulate churches in today's Burgenland in the 17th century . In the first ten years after the tolerance patent of 1781, 15 Lutheran parishes were formed here. Protestant school life was important in the 19th century, for example through Pastor Gottlieb August Wimmer's "poor teacher seminar" .
The Evangelical Superintendentur AB Burgenland was founded after Burgenland came to Austria from Hungary through the Treaty of Trianon .
