Evangelical parish church Holzschlag

Holzschlag is located in southern Burgenland in the municipality of Unterkohlstätten, right at the transition from the Alps to the Pannonian lowlands .

Logging was first mentioned in writing in 1634 . The development of the settlement is likely to have something to do with the glass trade in the region at that time. Since glass production consumed large quantities of wood , this was made available in abundance at the time by clearing the forests in the immediate vicinity of the glassworks . A settlement was then built on one of the cleared forest areas - hence the name “wood felling”. From 1659 to 1854, the village was part of the Pinkafeld rule for most of the time .

The Holzschlag fire brigade has a tank fire engine (TLF 1000) with 1600 liters of extinguishing water. It is loaded with a hydraulic rescue device from Lukas. A winch is also available. There is also a mountain and land fire engine (BLF) in service. This vehicle is the first and only vehicle of this type in Burgenland to date. A portable pump trailer with a FOX 1 complements the vehicle. A team transport vehicle (MTF) is available for the team.

Sports

There is a sports club in felling. It consists of the three sections football, cycling and tennis.

youth

The Holzschlag youth has a youth room in the fire station. The youth organize a carnival parade and an Easter bonfire every year. Until recently, a maypole was also set up.

There is a pensioners' association.
