Salmannsdorf (Hungarian Salamonfalva ) is a cadastral community and a street village of the large community Pilgersdorf (Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland , Austria ).
geography
The local area of Salmannsdorf is at an average altitude of 479 meters and has an area of 495.59 hectares . According to the 2001 census, the place has 149 inhabitants.
history
The first documentary evidence of Salmannsdorf can be found in a document from 1390, where the place is referred to as "Salamonfalva". The place name was subsequently changed and is referred to as "Salmdorf", "Salmerstorff" or "Szölmersdorff".
On September 5, 1921 there were fighting with Hungarian troops who wanted to keep the area near western Hungary. During this conflict, a certain Johann Baumgartner was captured and executed. A plaque attached to the war memorial reminds of this. In the immediate vicinity - to the north - there is a customs guard martel . Every year in September "commemorations" are held in honor of St. Matthew.
The Roman Catholic branch church of the Pilgersdorf parish , standing on a hill, was built in 1874 and consecrated in 1875 in honor of the Ascension of Christ .
