Günsecker calculator
Arithmetic is a craft that was practiced in Günseck in earlier times. Especially in the winter months when there was no work in agriculture, rakes were made from simple wooden poles and sold at the market. There are only a few people left who have mastered this craft in the village.
The nickname "Stangelrauwa", as the Günsecker were called by the residents of the surrounding villages, comes from this craft. It comes from the fact that Günseck, as one of the smallest cadastral communities in Austria, has little forest of its own and therefore wood had to be stolen from the forests of the surrounding towns to make the rakes.
Village inn
The old village school, which was converted into an inn (D'Schul), is worth seeing. Various events such as birthday parties, balls or lectures are held in the large hall.
Carters
The first Günsecker were carters who brought the wood from the area to the count's glassworks and mines and the glass products to the cities for sale. Because of this work, the Günsecker were on the road a lot and could not cultivate the fields at home or did not need them. Therefore the cadastral community of Günseck also has one of the smallest hotter in Austria.
