The Evangelical Lutheran parish church Rechnitz AB is located in the market town of Rechnitz in the Oberwart district in Burgenland . The church belongs to the Superintendentur AB Burgenland and is a listed building .

history

After the tolerance patent of 1781, the Rechnitz Protestants began building a tolerance prayer house on Hochstrasse in 1783 , although the entrance was not allowed to be built directly from the street. In September 1783, the first Protestant service after the Counter-Reformation was celebrated here. The further expansion of the church began in 1853. The church got its current appearance with facade, staircase and neo-Gothic tower and windows. The main entrance was relocated to Hochstraße. The church was completely renovated in 1971/1972. In 1996 the church tower was renovated.

architecture

The simple classical hall building has neo-Gothic windows that were later changed and a tower facade in the south.

The five-bay nave has a vault with narrow cross squares between belts. The surrounding wooden gallery on cast iron supports was removed in 1971.

Furnishing

The classical pulpit altar from 1813 bears figures of the prophets Elias and Moses. The altar was restored in 1952 and 1972. The altarpiece shows Christ on the Mount of Olives .

The first bells were bought in 1838.
