The high altar of the church

The Evangelical Lutheran parish church Rust AB is located in a former cemetery to the west of the Fischerkirche in the town of Rust in Burgenland . The parish church belongs to the Superintendentur AB Burgenland and is a listed building .

history

The church was built in 1784/1785 initially without a tower with Laurenz Neumayer from Ödenburg. The tower on the north facade was built with the architect Ludwig Schöne . 1975 was an exterior restoration.

architecture

The classical church building has a pilaster structure over a rusticated base. A choir closes at the nave with a five-eighth closing . The facade yoke and the tower show a rich neo-baroque stucco decoration with profiled cornices and flower arrangements. The tower has fluted corner pilasters and a high onion helmet.

The square central yoke is followed by a shorter yoke to the north and south. The hall has square vaults between belts on mighty square pilasters. The north gallery on two pillars is pulled forward on the east wall to the middle yoke. The apse of the choir ends in a flat elliptical shape.

A tombstone under the gallery mentions 1734.

Furnishing

The classical altar with Corinthian columns and pilasters has a top with three vases. The altarpiece Crucifixion is a copy by Anthony van Dyck and shows the inscription In honorem SS Trinitatis and is therefore unique in a Protestant church. The pulpit is from the construction period and has the bas-reliefs Sower and Sermon on the Mount and a hood-shaped sound cover. The baptismal font from the construction period is made of wood and has a humped bowl on a slim shaft and has a lid with an Anabaptist group. The brass chandelier with an eagle (a so-called Polish chandelier) is from the 17th century.
