The Choral Synagogue in the Ukrainian city ​​of Kharkiv is the largest synagogue in Ukraine.

history

The synagogue was built between 1909 and 1913. After the October Revolution it was closed as a synagogue in 1923 and used as a Jewish workers' club, cinema and sports club.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and Ukraine's independence, it was returned to Jewish organizations.

In 1998 the building was damaged by fire. Then it was renovated; this work was completed in 2003. The synagogue is operated by Chabad .
