history
Around the year 1440 the place is called jobagyi or jobbagyi . The noble landlords of the village, the v. a. who settled in Klein-Jabing saw themselves as descendants of the Szeklers . The village was divided by the Reformation of the 16th century. The Catholic Church of Jabing was a branch of the parish Großpetersdorf since 1698. In 1788 the Roman Catholic parish church was built and consecrated. The Protestant residents belonged to the community of Siget in der Wart as a subsidiary community. In 1875 the evangelical school was built, which also serves as a church.
Although German settlement increased steadily in the 17th century, around 50 percent of the total population was still Hungarian-speaking at that time. In 1880 it was only 16 percent, in 1920 it was only 8 percent. Like the whole of Burgenland until 1920/21, the place was part of Hungary (German-West Hungary). Since 1898 the Hungarian toponym Vasjobbágyi (Vas = iron for Eisenstadt ) had to be used due to the centralization policy of the government in Budapest . After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919.
The municipality of Jabing has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ). During the Second World War , Jabing was right on the front line and was captured by Russian soldiers on April 5, 1945. In 1971 the municipality of Jabing was joined to the large municipality of Großpetersdorf as a result of the Burgenland municipal structure improvement law coming into force . In 1992, Großpetersdorf and Jabing separated again by resolution of the local council.
