Hannersdorf is a municipality in the Oberwart district in Burgenland in Austria . The Hungarian place name of the municipality is Sámfalva , the Croatian Šampovar .

geography

The community with 850 inhabitants is located in southern Burgenland 268 m above sea level.

The municipality includes the following three localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

The community consists of the cadastral communities Burg , Hannersdorf and Woppendorf.

history

Like all of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 . Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Sámfalva be used. After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ).

In 1971 the municipalities of Burg and Woppendorf were merged with Hannersdorf.

600 years of Hannersdorf: On November 25, 2006, the community of Hannersdorf celebrated the existence of the community since 1406 in the rectory under the motto "600 years of Hannersdorf". On this occasion, the community's website was presented for the first time and a commemorative publication was also published.

Parish council

In addition to Mayor Gerhard Klepits (ÖVP) and Deputy Mayor Roman Hörist (SPÖ), the executive councils Maria Gollacz-Kristaloczi (ÖVP), Sebastian Pichler (SPÖ) and Ernst Wacholder (BHW) are also members of the community board.

Bernhard Klepits (ÖVP) was elected to the environmental council.

Wolfgang Muhr (ÖVP, for Burg) and Erich Weber (ÖVP, for Woppendorf) were elected mayor.

Mayor is Gerhard Klepits (ÖVP). After Erich Werderits (SPÖ), who had been a member of the municipal council for almost 40 years (including five years as vice mayor) and almost 25 years as mayor, announced on December 16, 2016 that he would step down as mayor on December 31, 2016, he became vice mayor Roland Gabriel (SPÖ) elected his successor by the local council. In the direct mayor election on October 1, 2017, Gerhard Klepits (ÖVP) achieved 43.45% and Gabriel 32.89% in the first ballot, while Wolfgang Muhr (BHW, 20.05%) and Stefanie Karlovits (FPÖ, 3.61% ) retired. In the runoff election on October 29, 2017, Klepits prevailed with 65.01%, Gabriel received 34.99%, and was re-elected Vice Mayor in the constituent meeting of the municipal council on November 17, 2017.
