Loipersbach im Burgenland ( Hungarian : Lépesfalva ) is a municipality in the Mattersburg district in Burgenland in Austria with 1195 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

Loipersbach in Burgenland is on the Hungarian border across from Agendorf . The cadastral communities Loipersbach and Loipersbach-Kogel are located within the municipality .

history
Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg .
Later under the Romans, today's Loipersbach was then in the province of Pannonia .
In 1225, Loipersbach was first mentioned in a document by Andreas II (Hungary) under the name “Lupoltsbach im Wald”.
Like all of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 .
Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Lépesfalva be used.
After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919.
The place has belonged to the newly founded state of Burgenland since 1921.

- Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park The nature park founded in 2006 - with an area of over 7000 hectares - includes 13 communities, Loipersbach being one of these communities. The nature park consists of rolling hills with orchards and chestnut groves and the forests of the Rosalia Mountains. The area of the nature park is ideal for sports such as hiking, cycling and Nordic walking.

Parish council
In addition to Mayor Erhard Aminger (SPÖ) and Deputy Mayor Erna Fürst (SPÖ), the municipal board also includes the executive councils Roman Amring (FPÖ), Roland Holndonner (ÖVP) and Florian Köller (SPÖ).
Community treasurer is Werner Gruber and Erhard Aminger is environmental councilor.

Mayor is Erhard Aminger (SPÖ), who succeeded Herbert Tschürtz (SPÖ) on October 12, 2011, who has headed the community since 1996 and resigned from office on October 10, 2011. In the direct election of the mayor in 2017, the runoff election resulted in the following order: Aminger (SPÖ, 48.31%), Roman Amring (FPÖ, 29.09%) and Josef Soffried (ÖVP, 22.60%). In the runoff election on October 29th, Aminger won 55.90% against Amring.
In the constituent meeting of the municipal council, Erna Fürst (SPÖ) was elected deputy mayor.
Head of office is Karl Bader.
Partner municipality
The municipality of Loipersbach in Burgenland established a partnership with the village of Aufhausen (part of the city of Bopfingen ) in Baden-Württemberg on October 26, 2003 .
