Limbach ( Hungarian language : Hárspatak ) is a place in the municipality of Kukmirn in Burgenland .

location

The scattered settlement with widely spaced mountain houses is located in the hill country between Lafnitztal and Güssing . There are three and four-sided courtyards, mostly with courtyards .

history

Limbach was first mentioned in a document in 1346.

The Roman Catholic branch church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built in 1835.

On April 2, 1912, what was then called the Limbach Fire Brigade Association was founded. The first in command was Josef Ernst. After many members were drafted during the First World War , the association's activities were suspended at that time. Due to a change in the law of the Burgenland state parliament , the association was renamed the local fire department in June 1935 . On April 29, 1951, the fire station was handed over, which was rebuilt and expanded in 1978. In 1982 a new fire station was built. As of January 1, 2016, the team had 59 active members, 5 reservists and 6 young people. Rainer Freissmuth has been in command since January 1, 2005. The fire brigade also contributes to the cultural village life. After a mixed choir and a theater group already existed between the 1940s and 1960s, the fire brigade took the initiative again in 1975 and founded an amateur theater group. Since then, it has been staging a folk play or comedy every Easter .

After the children had previously been taught in a cellar-like building, today's primary school building was officially opened in 1967. The beginnings of the elementary school go back to the year 1777. The construction of the elementary school was the last major project of the then still independent municipality of Limbach.

In 1971 the previously independent municipality of Limbach was merged with the villages of Eisenhüttl and Neusiedl near Güssing to form the large municipality of Kukmirn.

In 1980 the former Protestant primary school building was completely renovated. It has been used as a house of prayer ever since.

On April 22nd, 2006, on the initiative of the local council Willibald Fandl, the Limbach pension was opened, which is run by the Burgenland aid organization . With a size of 1228 square meters, it offers 30 residents a home. In addition to professional inpatient care, it also enables day and short-term care to relieve the burden on family carers. In addition, with 23 employees, it is an important employer for the place.

According to local votes and the unanimous decision of the local council on June 30, 2010, Limbach should become an independent municipality. The division of assets should be decided within a year. On June 1, 2011, the municipal council passed the complete agreement on the property-sharing plan. According to this decision, Limbach has to pay Kukmirn EUR 530,000 for the separation. The separation of the parent community “Marktgemeinde Kukmirn” into the newly formed communities “Limbach” and “Kukmirn” was fixed and the application to the state government for the issue of a separation ordinance was resolved. However, the country rejected the separation with reference to the lack of sustainable viability of the individual communities in early 2012.

societies

The fire station

Although the village only has around 550 inhabitants, there is a lively club life. In addition to the volunteer fire brigade are especially worth mentioning

  • The tourism and beautification association founded in 1965 . He is not only concerned with the maintenance of the townscape and is responsible for the annual village festival, but has also implemented the tourism concept he designed himself. This includes, among other things, the creation of nine hiking trails including recreational areas with a total length of 68 kilometers, which connects Limbach with the towns of Kukmirn, Neusiedl and Königsdorf. Eleven hiking boards and hiking maps were set up along the paths. With the wine trail including the wine museum and the legend adventure trail, two of these hiking trails are designed as themed trails. Since 2007, a platform has also been created with the website on which all information about the location can be accessed. In 2008 a flower decoration committee was founded, which also consists of around 20 women and takes care of the planting of the place. In 2010, these efforts were rewarded with the provincial victory in the Burgenland flower decoration competition in the category "Places up to 600 inhabitants".
  • The Limbach tennis club was founded in 1978 after the construction of a clay court next to the elementary school. In 1983 it was expanded to include two hard courts. For this purpose, cabins and sanitary facilities were created in the new fire station. In 2006 the forecourt by the cabins was expanded and a spectator terrace was built. In 2010 the already outdated hard courts were replaced by modern RedCourt courts.
  • The Kulturjugend Limbach was founded in 1964. Above all, she takes care of the preservation of the old customs, such as Easter bonfires, erecting the maypole, activities at weddings or going to Krampus and St. Nicholas. She has her meeting place in an old wine cellar that she saved from disintegration and renovated.

Other clubs are the mixed choir , the stick shooting club SFC Moarbach and the hunters' association .
