Neustift near Schlaining

Neustift bei Schlaining is a district of the market town of Mariasdorf in Burgenland , Oberwart district , Austria .

In a document from 1388, a small village called "Hoffh" (Hof) was mentioned, which was almost certainly located in the municipality of Neustift. This village was razed to the ground in the Turkish procession of 1532. From the reign Bernstein a new village called Neustift was founded on the site of the destroyed village ( newly founded ), which consisted of "three houses and a mill" and the first time appearing in a document in a land register from the year 1569th From 1659 to 1854, the village was part of the Pinkafeld rule for most of the time . The former school house of the municipalities of Bergwerk, Neustift and Sulzriegel is in Neustift and was inaugurated in 1889.

On January 1st, 1971, the communities of Bergwerk, Grodnau, Mariasdorf, Neustift bei Schlaining and diving were merged to form the new community of Mariasdorf .
