Evangelical Parish Church (2011)

The Evangelical Parish Church in the market town of Gols in the Neusiedl am See district in Burgenland is a listed building .

The parish of Gols was founded very soon after Joseph II's patent of tolerance and was able to employ its first pastor in 1783. At first the services took place in a barn. The church was built in 1783/84 in just eleven months in accordance with the specifications for tolerance prayer houses as an unadorned tower-free structure. After a fire in 1818, it was restored. In 1888, as part of a renovation by the architect Ludwig Schöne, the nave was extended by one yoke to the west. In the east a tower in neo-Romanesque style with a high pointed helmet was built. The interior was restored and redesigned from 1975 to 1976.

The four-bay nave has a high vaulted square between deeply drawn belts and windows in grooved niches. The marbled wood altar wall is adorned with a three-part aedicule (1888). The remarkable altarpiece Adoration of the Magi with the designation A 1537 A copies a woodcut by Albrecht Dürer from 1511. The altar cross is from 1752. The pulpit made of dark wood with an onion helmet-shaped sound cover with gold decoration from the 2nd half of the 19th century comes from Ödenburg . The baptismal font is labeled HG 1818 . The glass windows were designed by Hannelore Knittler-Gesellmann (1976).

The organ with 14 registers was built by Franz Ullmann (1851/52).
