The district of Neusiedl am See ( Hungarian Nezsideri járás ) is a political district of Burgenland .
geography
The Neusiedl am See district is the easternmost district of Austria on the border with Hungary and Slovakia and the northernmost district of Burgenland. The majority of Lake Neusiedl and the Austrian part of the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel National Park are located in the district area . The Leitha , a tributary of the Danube , flows through the district area. In the north it largely forms the border of the district.
The district measures about 50 km from north to south. It stretches from the Slovakian border in the north to Seewinkel in the south. From west to east, the district stretches over 33 km from the Leithagebirge over the Parndorfer Platte to the Hungarian border.

traffic
- Road: The east A 4 motorway from Vienna to Budapest runs through the district from west to east . In the district there are the interchanges Parndorf (40), Neusiedl am See (43), Weiden / Gols (51), Mönchhof (57) and Nickelsdorf (64) as well as the Nickelsdorf border crossing (65). Starting from the Bruckneudorf junction, the north- east A 6 motorway to Bratislava in Slovakia runs in the north of the district . Three (former) federal highways run through the district : Budapester Straße B 10 from Bruck an der Leitha to the Hungarian border in the north, Burgenland Straße B 50 in the western district area and Neusiedler Straße B 51 from north to south.
- Rail: The Vienna-Raaber Bahn from Vienna to Budapest or Bratislava is a main ÖBB route through the district . The route branches out in Parndorf. In the direction of Budapest there are further train stations in Zurndorf and Nickelsdorf, in the direction of Bratislava in Neudorf, Gattendorf, Pama and Kittsee. In Parndorf, the Pannoniabahn branches off to Eisenstadt , which still stops in Neusiedl, Jois and Winden in the district. From Neusiedl, the Neusiedler Seebahn runs through the south of the district to the Hungarian border and stops in Weiden, Gols, Mönchhof, Frauenkirchen, Sankt Andrä, Wallern and Pamhagen. There are two InterCity train stations in the district, one in Kittsee, the other in Bruckneudorf, where the train station of the Lower Austrian border town of Bruck an der Leitha is also located. The S 60 line of the Vienna S-Bahn runs to Neusiedl am See via Parndorf.
