The postal name of the place was St. Andrä near Frauenkirchen until the 1980s . Sankt Andrä am Zicksee has been a market town since 2002 (through LGBl. No. 66/2002).
On March 17, 2017, the municipal council decided to hold a referendum on the construction of an Orthodox monastery, which on June 11, 2017 brought a clear majority for the construction of the monastery.
