Neighboring communities
The neighboring communities are Gattendorf (Burgenland) , Potzneusiedl and Parndorf .
history
There are Roman finds on the western edge of the place such as stone slab and stone box graves. In a document dated November 26, 1074, the place is mentioned as Nowendorf . In 1525 Neudorf is referred to as a "desolate village". In the 1570s it was re-donated by the landlords, Count Harrach , with Croatian settlers. In 1897 it was connected to the Parndorf – Preßburg railway line .
Like all of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 . Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Mosonújfalu be used. After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ).
The municipality of Neudorf was merged in 1971 together with the previously independent municipality of Potzneusiedl and the municipality of Gattendorf to form the large municipality of Gattendorf-Neudorf. After Neudorf suffered major disadvantages as a result of the merger, the previous independence was sought. The separation of the communities succeeded, and on January 1, 1990 Neudorf regained its independence. The first mayor after the separation was Stefan Mikula, who ran the community until he retired in 2017.
