history
Numerous finds prove a settlement a long time ago. The first documentary mention comes from the year 1353. We find it in the will of Count Konrad von Schaunberg , in which the village is called "Uttestal". In the year 1529 the parish is mentioned in the annals of the parish Hainburg as "Etlastal".
In the late Middle Ages, in 1412, Edelstal appears again in a written source, in which there was a dispute between Friedrich and Hermann Scharfenegg and the Hundsheimers over Holden in Edelstal. In the course of the following centuries, news about the village of Edelstal became more and more frequent.
After the First Turkish War , the village was probably also destroyed, as the basin was probably not inhabited again until 1615. The second train of the Turks against Vienna did not leave its mark here either. For example, we learn from an extensive document from 1685 what expenses the villagers had in connection with the Turkish wars.
From the sources it can be assumed that some of the people who fled from the Turks came back to the village, and other new settlers, who mainly came from Swabia , the Palatinate , Bavaria , Saxony , Tyrol and Upper Austria , have each other settled in Edelstal and the neighboring villages. Many of these names, which appear in the sources on Edelstal's past at the beginning of the 18th century, are still available today.
The Hungarian name Nemes Völgye of the village appears in the second half of the 17th century ( Pagus hic Edelsthal vocatur, in Lingua Nostra Hungarica - Nemes Völgye ).
In 1884 the researcher Ágost Sőtér (1837–1905) discovered parts of a Roman villa and an Avar cemetery.
In the time of Austria-Hungary Edelstal belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary ( Wieselburg County ). After the First World War and the Treaty of Trianon (1920), it came to Austria in 1921 and became part of the newly founded federal state of Burgenland .
In 1971 Edelstal was merged with Kittsee . Since January 1st 1992 Edelstal is again an independent municipality.

coat of arms
Blazon : In a red shield, a blue bowl held by two golden hands, from which a blue fountain rises, which is covered with gold-framed blue pearls; the fountain is raised by a bunch of golden grapes and three golden ears of wheat.
The coat of arms was awarded on January 27, 1998. For centuries, wine and grain have been grown on Edelstaler soil, which, in addition to cattle breeding, formed the basis of life for the residents of the community. The spring, which has been gushing south of the village for many centuries and is marketed by the Römerquelle company , has a major influence on the development of the community.
