Römerquelle is an Austrian mineral water brand and a company of the same name. The sources and bottling of the mineral water are located in Edelstal in Burgenland on the so-called small thermal bath line .

Römerquelle also describes a medicinal water from the German Aqua Römer GmbH based in Göppingen-Jebenhausen, which has nothing to do with the Austrian Römerquelle.

history

The springs were already known in Roman times and are artesian . The springs were rediscovered in 1890. Commercial use of the water began in 1925 and a spa was built in Edelstal in 1932. In 1965 the spring was also officially recognized as a healing spring. This became in 2005 the company Römerquelle GesmbH, founded in 1965 . und Co. KG fills 150 million liters annually.

Both mineral water with and without added carbon dioxide is offered. All types of mineral water are only bottled in green, semi-transparent bottles. The company appears again and again as a sponsor in the sports sector, but also in other areas. It is one of the most famous mineral water brands in Austria.

In 2003 the company was taken over by today's Coca-Cola HBC , and since then the range has been expanded to include several so-called wellness drinks .

With the Römerquelle art competition , the company promoted the visual arts from 1979 to 2001 .
