history

The parish was probably founded around 1000 and rebuilt in 1629. The core of the church is a Romanesque church that was renovated in 1592 using old masonry. In 1629 and 1667 it was redesigned in Baroque style . Renovations took place from 1767 to 1769 and from 1959 to 1960. The exterior was renovated in 1974.

Church building

Church exterior

The church has a mighty square west tower with a stone pyramid helmet with corner pieces. The year "1629" is on the walled-up west portal. A vestibule with a gable is built in front of the south portal. There is a sacristy annex on the north side . The low, recessed apse with buttresses from the 17th century is closed in a semicircle.

Church interior

The nave is three-bay and vaulted with a groin . The vault dates from the 17th century. The gallery rests on a mighty central pillar, the wooden parapet is pulled forward in the middle. A bulky, round-arched triumphal arch with chamfered edges may come from the Romanesque building. There are five deep-drawn caps above the apse .

Furnishing

The high altar consists of a cafeteria with a classicist tabernacle from the 19th century. On the apse wall is a crucifix from the 18th century.

The side altars on the triumphal arch wall were made by the sculptor Martin Vögerl . The altars of the same design were created around 1765 and consist of a rococo frame and oval pictures. The Holy Family is depicted on the left , and Saint Martin on the right . Both pictures probably come from the painter Stephan Dorfmeister . The side figures on the left side altar represent St. Anthony and St. Anna , those on the right side altar represent St. Roch and an apostle.

The pulpit dates from around 1770. Seated figures of the four evangelists are depicted on the pulpit with rococo ornaments. A figure of the Archangel Michael is on the newer cover . The font dates from the 17th century. Behind it is a figure of St. John Nepomuk from the 18th century. The figure was later renewed. On the north wall of the nave hangs an oil painting of St. Leonhard by Johann Christian Brand from the 18th century, which was previously used as a high altar painting . There are two large Rococo consoles in the tower room.
