Elisabeth Epp (born January 26, 1910 in Cologne as Elisabeth Eschbaum ; † October 29, 2000 in Vienna ) was a German-Austrian actress.

Life

Elisabeth Epp was born in Cologne as the daughter of the architect Ernst Eschbaum. She received private acting lessons and came to the Cologne City Theater as an apprentice , where she met her future husband Leon Epp . In 1928 she joined the Berlin Society for Popular Education as the first stage engagement at a touring stage. Just one year later, the director Otto Preminger became aware of her, who brought her to the Neue Wiener Schauspielhaus - today's Volksoper - where she was engaged in 1937 and 1938.

In 1936 she married Leon Epp, with whom she opened the theater “Die Insel” in 1937 on Vienna's Parkring . Only one year later, after the Nazis invaded , the theater had to close again. However, they reopened the "island" after the war ended in 1945 - this time in Johannesgasse. Due to financial problems, the theater finally had to close in 1951 - the Metro cinema was opened in its place . From 1953 to 1989 she was part of the ensemble of the Vienna Volkstheater .

Elisabeth Epp was buried at the side of her husband in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Gr. 40, No. 21).
