Amphoe Song ( Thai อำเภอ สอง , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː sɔ̌ːŋ ) is the northernmost district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of the Phrae Province in northern Thailand .

geography

Neighboring counties (clockwise from southeast): the Amphoe Rong Kwang , Nong Muang Khai and Long of Phrae Province, Mae Mo and Ngao of Lampang Province , Dok Khamtai and Chiang Muan of Phayao Province , and Ban Luang and Wiang Sa of Nan Province .

The Mae Yom National Park is located in the district of Song.

history

The county was originally called Mueang Song. In 1917 it was renamed Ban Klang after the central tambon . The district was renamed Song again in 1939 by Ban Klang, but without the "Mueang", as this was reserved for the provincial capitals.

Local administration

There are two small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

Song (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สอง ) consists of parts of the Tambon Ban Nun and Ban Klang,
Huai Mai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ห้วย หม้าย ) consists of the entire tambon Huai Mai.

There are also seven “Tambon Administrative Organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) for the tambon in the district that do not belong to any city.
