Amphoe Ngao ( Thai อำเภอ งาว , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː ŋāːw ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the northeast of the province of Lampang . The Lampang Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .
geography
Neighboring counties (clockwise from the south): Amphoe Mae Mo , Chae Hom and Wang Nuea of Lampang Province, Mueang Phayao and Dok Khamtai of Phayao Province , and Song of Phrae Province .
The Maenam Ngao (Ngao River) , a tributary of the Mae Nam Yom (Yom River) , flows through the county.
The 1,284.9 km² Tham Pha Thai National Park (Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ ถ้ำ ผา ไท ) is partly located in the district of Ngao.

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Luang Tai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หลวง ใต้ ) consisting of the complete tambon Luang Tai.
- Luang Nuea (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หลวง เหนือ ) consisting of the complete tambon Luang Nuea.
In addition, there are eight " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)
- Ban Pong (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บ้านโป่ง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Ban Pong.
- Ban Rong (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บ้าน ร้อง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Ban Rong.
- Pong Tao (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ป ง เตา ) consisting of the complete Tambon Pong Tao.
- Na Kae (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล นาแก ) consisting of the complete Tambon Na Kae.
- Ban On (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บ้าน อ้อน ) consisting of the complete tambon Ban On.
- Ban Haeng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บ้าน แหง ) consisting of the complete tambon Ban Haeng.
- Ban Huat (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บ้าน หวด ) consisting of the complete tambon Ban Huat.
- Mae Tip (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล แม่ ตีบ ) consisting of the complete Tambon Mae Tip.
