Amphoe Thoen ( Thai อำเภอ เถิน , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː tʰɤ̌n ) is the southernmost district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of the Province of Lampang . The Lampang Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .

Neighboring counties (clockwise from north): Soem Ngam and Sop Prap Amphoe of Lampang Province, Wang Chin of Phrae Province , Si Satchanalai , Thung Saliam and Ban Dan Lan Hoi of Sukhothai Province , Ban Tak and Sam Ngao of Tak Province , Mae Phrik of Lampang Province, and Li and Thung Hua Chang of Lamphun Province .
The 587 km² national park Mae Wa ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ แม่ วะ ) is partly in the district of Thoen, it stretches further down to Ban Tak in the province of Tak. The eight-tier Mae Wa waterfall ( น้ำตก แม่ วะ ) is particularly worth seeing . The park was officially opened on November 17, 2000.

There are four municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Mae Mok (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แม่ ม อก ) consisting of the complete Tambon Mae Mok.
- Thoen Buri (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เถิน บุรี ) consisting of the complete tambon Thoen Buri.
- Lom Raet (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ล้อม แรด ) consisting of the complete Tambon Lom Raet.
- Wiang Mok (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เวียง ม อก ) consisting of the complete tambon Wiang Mok.
There are also four " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)
- Mae Wa (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล แม่ วะ ) consisting of the complete tambon Mae Wa.
- Mae Pa (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล แม่ปะ ) consisting of the complete Tambon Mae Pa.
- Na Pong (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล นา โป่ง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Na Pong.
- Mae Thot (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล แม่ ถอด ) consisting of the complete tambon Mae Thot.
