Amphoe Wang Nuea ( Thai อำเภอ วังเหนือ ) is the northernmost district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of Lampang Province . The Lampang Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .
geography
Wang Nuea is 108 kilometers from the provincial capital Lampang , but only 55 kilometers from the capital of the neighboring province Phayao .
Neighboring counties (clockwise from southeast): Amphoe Ngao , Chae Hom and Mueang Pan of Lampang Province, Wiang Pa Pao and Phan of Chiang Rai Province , and Mae Chai and Mueang Phayao of Phayao Province .
The Mae Nam Wang (Wang River) flows through the county from north to south.
history
The name of "Wang Nuea" was "Chae Hom" until 1904. Wang Nuea was on May 15, 1938 as "branch circuit" ( King Amphoe ) of the circle Chae Hom furnished. In 1958, Wang Nuea was given full amphoe status.
Attractions
- Part of the Doi Luang National Park ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ ดอย หลวง ) is in the district. The park stretches from Phan District of Chiang Rai Province down to the Amphoe Mueang Phayao the province of Phayao .
- The Wang Kaeo Waterfall ( น้ำตก วัง แก้ว ) is the largest in the province, it is located in the southern part of the Doi Luang National Park. The water falls down over 110 steps. At the highest point two villages are the mountain people of the Yao .

Local administration
There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Ban Mai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน ใหม่ ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Wang Nuea.
- Wang Nuea (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล วังเหนือ ) consisting of parts of the tambon Wang Nuea.
In addition, there are eight " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)
- Thung Hua (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ทุ่ง ฮั้ว ) consisting of the complete tambon Thung Hua.
- Wang Nuea (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วังเหนือ ) consisting of parts of the tambon Wang Nuea.
- Wang Tai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วัง ใต้ ) consisting of the complete tambon Wang Tai.
- Rong Kho (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ร่อง เคาะ ) consisting of the complete Tambon Rong Kho.
- Wang Thong (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วังทอง ) consisting of the complete tambon Wang Thong.
- Wang Sai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วัง ซ้าย ) consisting of the complete tambon Wang Sai.
- Wang Kaeo (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วัง แก้ว ) consisting of the complete tambon Wang Kaeo.
