Phi Pan Nam Mountains
The Phi Pan Nam Mountains ( Thai : ทิว เขา ผี ปัน น้ำ "Mountains of the spirits that distribute the water", also "The spirit of a thousand waters") is a mountain system in Thailand .
The delimitation of the Phi Pan Nam Mountains is quite difficult. One could say that it is a collection of mountain ranges and watersheds that stretch between the Mae Nam Wang , Mae Nam Yom and Mae Nam Nan rivers. They feed water to the south into the Mae Nam Chao Phraya and to the north into the Mekong .
The main rivers that arise in the Phi Pan Nam Mountains are Mae Nam Yom , Mae Nam Ing and Mae Nam Wang .
The mountain ranges run through the provinces of Chiang Rai , Phayao , Lampang , Phrae , Uttaradit , Nan , Sukhothai and Tak in northern Thailand . The highest peak of the Phi Pan Nam Mountains, Doi Luang ( ดอย หลวง ) with a height of 1,694 m, is located in one of the western mountain ranges of the mountain range.
